General goal:

 

To promote social transformation through active, playful and interdisciplinary pedagogical practices that promote the Statistical Literacy of children and young people, so that they can read autonomously and critically, process the statistical information that is shown  in the society,  mainly by the media.

 

 

Specific goals:

 

- Provide the protagonism of children and young people as researchers, so that they can identify how statistics is produced, its needs, and how it can be used to guide possible social transformations in the communities;

- To promote the familiarity of children and young people with basic concepts and ideas of statistics, such as graphical and tabular representations, present in the media, based on topics of interest to the learners and their communities, considering the cultural, economic, racial, gender, environmental and social differences;

- To train teachers to act as guides through Statistics learning process, in order to promote the emancipation and autonomy of the learner, in a contextualized and playful way, and consequently to reapply the LeME in other localities of the country, and in other countries, predominantly Latin America or the Caribbean, among other underdeveloped or emerging economies.
